CHAPTER 27

There's no glory in an exit.

The relief, the freedom, the validation — name what you're really after. The exit only delivers what you've already built into the life on the other side of it.

PROMPT ONE

When you imagine selling, what are you actually imagining — the money, the freedom, the relief, the validation, or something else — and which of those things would still be true a year after the sale?

PROMPT TWO

What's the next chapter you'd write for yourself if liquidity arrived next month — and is that chapter compelling enough to actually pull you into it, or are you betting that the money alone will create the answer?

PROMPT THREE

If you stripped relief from the conversation — designed leverage, leadership, and structure that genuinely freed you from the day-to-day — would you still want to sell, or were you mostly trying to escape the version of the role you'd outgrown?

PROMPT FOUR

If the best deal you have is often the one you're already leading, what would have to change about your business for that to be true for you — in growth, in leverage, in cash generation, in optionality?

PROMPT FIVE

If you ran the business as if you might never sell it, what would you do differently this year — and what does the answer tell you about whether you should sell at all?
